We moved into a new apartment about a month ago, and when I started decorating, I realized that it's hard to find awesome home decor for a twenty-something's apartment. Everything seemed to be catered towards an older audience or was over-the-top expensive. I know that home decor can make a room, and little touches are what make an apartment cohesive and liveable. After making it my mission to find some boutiques, and braving the wild jungle that is Soho on a Saturday, I ended up in Nolita. I found so many off-the-map cool stores with great goods. From beaded pillows to bar carts to serving trays to wall art, I probably could have bought enough to turn my apartment into a home decor store. Here are my top picks if you're on the market for minor touches that will bring your apartment to life .

Ankasa [Soho/ Nolita]
If I could burrow up and live in a store, it would be Ankasa. The store is owned by Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia, the husband and wife team behind (you guessed it) Sachin + Babi. Drawing from the same coolness that inspires their clothing line, the pair creates every product you can imagine-- tote bags, pillows, art, table furnishings, bedding. The style reminds me of Rihanna in homeware form-- Cool and not giving a f$ck. This store is basically pillow heaven. The goods can get to be expensive, but I happened to pop in during a seasonal sale and everything about 25-50% off. A winter sale should be coming soon-- since winter is coming (or whatever)-- so check in soon.
Clic Gallery [Nolita]
I already wrote about Clic Gallery in my post about their awesome black and white photographs of bombshells, but what originally brought me into the store was the furnishings I eyed through the window. Natural wood, faux furs, white knits... these are a few of my favorite things (which apparently, are Clic's favorites, too). The vibe is reminiscent of a french marketplace crossed with a boutique in le marais. This is where to go when you're trying to be a cooler version of yourself.
Calypso St. Barth [Nolita]
When you think of "cheap," Calypso may not be the first place that comes to mind (or second, or third...) but I have a secret: their carpets are crazily well priced. We bought a super cool runner, which we get compliments on non-stop, and we just ordered another metallic rug. As a housewarming gift, my mom also bought us a metallic cowhide (a bit more expensive, but an amazing piece). Calypso also has great sales online and in-store, so if you find something you like, keep checking in on it. Everything in the entire store is the dream room of any beach lover (aka... every girl).
Anthropologie [Soho]
Anthropologie may seem like the old home standby, but the truth is, their home goods are amazing and their sales are even more amazing. All of my bedding and pillows are from Anthropologie, as well as many of my kitchen wares. Everything is whimsical & pretty, and their neutral palettes makes it easy to mix and match items. The Soho store does have the largest selection of home goods, so definitely suggest making a trip there.
What are your favorite stores for home goods in the city?

Lately I've been feeling like a muffin manda. Maybe it's the fact that it's warm and summer and berry season, or maybe it's my undying love of breakfast foods (aka breakfast breads), but I have been trying every muffin under the sun. Until now. I've finally filled the muffin recipe void in my life.
