I have a secret, and it's about a burger. Now, I could spread the word, and hypothetically clue in 11 other lucky burger-eaters tonight (because the kitchen only makes 12 a night, and yes-- I am claiming one), or I can just hoard all the burgers. And this burger is so good, I'm seriously contemplating eating 12 burgers- I think that puts the low in yolo.
The secret burger I'm talking about is the Raoul's burger, aka everything that's right with the world.
If you haven't been, Raoul's is a mainstay of Prince St, one of the few old-style 70s French Bistros in the area, a dark, dreamy bistro artists and poets like Bob Dylan used to frequent. Cool vibes, cool story, check and check. And don't get me wrong-- I love a place with a good history. But the burger? If they were selling it out of a beat down truck on the side of the road... (I mean, let's be real, I probably wouldn't eat it because it's New York, but I would consider it).
Here are the stats: the kitchen only makes twelve per night. You have to sit at the bar to eat it, and there are limited bar seats, so get ready to rumble. Also, the burgers normally sell out within an hour of opening. Challenge: on.

Before you run out (or they run out), I'm sure you want to know what makes it so awesome. It's a Pat LaFrieda beef blend heavy on the brisket (re: super tender and juicy), topped with a peppercorn mayo, watercress (tossed in an amazing dressing), baby cornichons and triple-cream St. Andre Cheese, all loaded onto a buttered, toasted brioche bun. As if that wasn't enough, there's an au poivre dipping sauce made of cognac cream on the side, along with some duckfat fries. Like a normal person, I cleaned my entire plate and considered ordering a second (except they were all gone by 6:45).

I actually have re-occuring dreams about this burger. It's that good, I kid you not. Go out, and grab it. Now. I promise it will make all other burgers seem like test runs.
