I woke up one day last week, and the temperature had dropped about 20 degrees. Overnight. What?!
I spend this time of year doing a few things. One of them is snuggling under my covers drinking hot tea (anyone's invited to hang-- I take house calls). I also spend my time dreaming of being somewhere warm, somewhere where I can walk around the corner without having to bundle up in ten-thousand layers. True story, I wore leggings under my jeans yesterday. Winter isn't coming-- it's here. And I'm no John Snow-Manda... I'm a human icicle.
I love dressing for summer because I can wear simple, sheer layers. In the winter, I feel like my clothing goes into hibernation (along with me). Philosophy quiz: if you're wear an awesome outfit, but no one sees it due to your winter coat/scarf/sweater, did it ever really happen?
As I'm dreaming of summer [and vacation] clothing, I am dreaming of lace. I love lace-- especially black lace. My best lace purchase was an Iro jacket I picked up in France last year, which I wear over a silky long sleeve black shirt or an Alexander Wang tight black dress. I'm lusting over the fashion photos I'm seeing of girls who are way cool, in an obviously way warm environment, rocking lace. I'll use this as inspiration for my post-hibernation clothing.
